215 // This Is Not Optimism

Today I am grateful for:

  1. Sleep. It’s the most basic human need and the one most often neglected. It’s sad that we live in a culture that discourages healthy amounts of sleep or sleeping when you need it. It’s sad that many of us can’t sleep as much as we need without feeling guilty or weak.
  2. My wife, as always, for taking care of me by giving me space to take care of myself. My health is my responsibility, her’s is only to support me and I would have it no other way. This keeps us healthy. This gives me a sense of control, autonomy, and responsibility.
  3. Raspberry sorbet. Simple pleasures mean everything right now and sorbet is the perfect dairy free pleasure to satisfy my sweet tooth.
