Today I am grateful for:
- A good night’s sleep. Last night was, if I remember correctly, the first full night of sleep I have had in months. My ulcerative colitis symptoms have been disrupting my nights since late May, and finally having a full night’s rest is not only the one thing I need the most right now, but the first undeniable sign that healing is happening.
- My wife. I’m always grateful for her but there are days, those especially long and difficult ones, that remind me that in all the world I have the best friend and partner I could have. She is what I need, always.
- My work. Despite the difficulties I face and the efforts made by those who would like to see me made small, I feel proud of the role I play in bringing hearts and minds into a new perspective. I am proud to say that the work I do is good and the change I make is one of compassion and connection. I will never let anyone take that from me.
