Today I am grateful for:

  1. My dog. Poor Lola had to go in for a vaccine booster early this morning. She hated it but she did her best to be good and brave. For a reward, she got her very first “puppuccino” from Starbucks. She’s resting now and as soon as she’s up she’ll get plenty more belly rubs and praise.
  2. Tiny Desk Concerts. I’ve forgotten how soothing the bands can be and how interesting it can be to see my favorite artists perform in such a restrictive venue. I’ve started a playlist of my favorites if you’re interested.
  3. The low-residue diet. It’s a drag to have to keep track of what is in everything you eat but I’m desperate for relief from my ulcerative colitis symptoms. Here’s to bone broth and Ensure, chicken breasts and white rice, polenta and cooked spinach, scrambled eggs and grits. These foods are my lifeline for the next few weeks at least.
