273 // I am Stronger

Today I am grateful for:

  1. A good night’s sleep. Last night was, if I remember correctly, the first full night of sleep I have had in months. My ulcerative colitis symptoms have been disrupting my nights since late May, and finally having a full night’s rest is not only the one thing I need the most right now, but the first undeniable sign that healing is happening.
  2. My wife. I’m always grateful for her but there are days, those especially long and difficult ones, that remind me that in all the world I have the best friend and partner I could have. She is what I need, always.
  3. My work. Despite the difficulties I face and the efforts made by those who would like to see me made small, I feel proud of the role I play in bringing hearts and minds into a new perspective. I am proud to say that the work I do is good and the change I make is one of compassion and connection. I will never let anyone take that from me.
